Can yeast infections be hereditary? My family is having a bad bout.?

Hi all. Can chronic yeast infections be hereditary or is it an environmental thing? My whole family seems to get them all the time and I'm wondering if its just in our DNA or if its something to do with our diet or living conditions. Even my sons get them in their es and they say its quite unpleasant. Us girls take the typical medications for them but it doesn't seem to help much. My husband won't allow the boys to take anything like Monastat because he doesn't believe its right for a guy to take it. They just have to use the dry air approach and hope keeping themselves exposed to sunlight will take care of it. So far I've had 4 yeast infections this calendar year and I know the rest of my family has had about the same amount. The doctors haven't really been very helpful.
