Is it selfish of me to name my baby after my family, and not my husband's?

I'm with you, they will have his last name. My daughter's middle name is that of my mother and my son's first name is that of my father. The third, which is on the way, will be named after someone on my side to. From my perspective it's a way to honor both sides of the child's family tree - the first name or middle name from one side and the last name from the other. It's the way that my mom did it for her three children and at the time when people got uppity she told them to mind their business because they were represented in the last name. Stick with your gut!
