Can someone help me with this problem because i dont know how to go about solving it?

The largest *and* smallest possible value for the area where they overlap is 16 cm^2 (or 1/4th of the larger cube). Try to imagine four 7x7 cubes not overlapping each other, but touching the 8x8 cube in the middle with their vertices.
